Great work of life the being to tear asunder The soul to degrade to black matter Let the blood fill with rust From nails pushed through the heart As life holds A silver dagger to our throats As we become void shadows And life holds A silver dagger to our throats Walk blindfold Towards the end of the soul There is no pure gold And as above no below It’s only a bottomless fall Let the blood fill with rust From nails pushed through the heart As life holds A silver dagger to our throats As we become void shadows And life holds A silver dagger to our throats

about

Reflection Black return to solidify their position as a prominent force in the realms of Post-Punk and Gothic Rock with their new single “A Silver Dagger to our Throats".

The new track builds on the foundation of this year’s album “Last Stop to Nowhere”, but takes a daring step towards more intense and ominous soundscapes. Pulsating bass and synths entwine with crystalline guitars, exploring both melodic but also dissonant themes, adding to the brooding atmosphere. The contagious vocal hooks are prevalent as always but are now infused with bitter existentialism.

The lyrics touch upon the alchemical Magnum Opus or Great Work, but end up with the conclusion that “There is no pure gold” and “As above, no below”, there is no triumphant ascension of the soul in the end but only putrefaction. The single also features the band's new member George in guitars, as Reflection Black have now become a 4-piece and are working towards a darker and more organic direction.

A Silver Dagger to Our Throats features:
Elis Alex - Vocals, Bass, Synths
George Foukarakis - Guitars
